DOG TRAINING IS FUN!
In recent years, dog training has changed dramatically. More and more trainers are using positive
motivation as their primary tool for behavior modification, minimizing punishment and corrections.
The result is a dog who obeys with the "utmost of willingness and enjoyment", instead of
a slinking flattened dog who obeys out of fear of correction.
All dogs are individuals, and there are unlimited ways to train them. Teaching and changing behavior
is a constant process of creative brainstorming on the part of a dog trainer to find the method that
works for the dog and the human as partners.
Dogs are a product of the environment we create for them. Every moment you are with your dog you are
training your dog, whether or not you realize it. The training continues when your dog is left alone;
behavior is changed and created by what your dog finds to be rewarding. It is up to the human partner
to protect the dog and to put together an environment that creates the desired behavior.
All dogs go through a period of canine adolescence. This is a difficult time for the human/canine team,
and can last until the dog is around three years old. The adult dog is a direct result of the amount of
time and effort the human puts into training during the first two to three years. The wonderful secret
to the whole process is............
Dog training is fun!
FUN & GAMES DOG OBEDIENCE CLASSES
Open to all dogs over 16 weeks of age. Using positive reinforcement and motivational methods, Agility
equipment and fun games, students improve their relationship with their dog and strengthen the dog's
ability to focus and obey around distractions. The Beginner classes
cover basic obedience commands and are especially effective for the hyper or fearful adolescent dog.
Taking your dog out and about town to experience new sights, sounds, smells, surfaces and humans is one
of the best things you can do for him. (And, if you're in a J9's K9s Beginners Fun & Games or Puppy
Head Start class, you can even win a prize if you photograph your adventure!) Urban socialization is a
great way to spend time with your dog - and it does wonders to help tire him out, too. Click on the link

Valley areas to help you get started!
