All dogs at POSC have either attended or are attending a socialization class or basic training
course in an effort to promote retention and happy, healthy relationships. When adopting a
puppy under 6 months of age, adopters are required to attend puppy classes at their own
expense. Some dogs may need additional training at the owner's expense.
At first glance I'm a chihuahua but look closer at my face. See a little pug hiding in there?
I'm just out of puppy-hood so I've got lots of energy and fun in me. Like all puppies I'd
benefit from going to school to learn my manners. Just because I'm little doesn't mean I don't
need training! But I've heard that school is lots of fun and just think-- We can do it
together! So let's go!
So, you ask, how did they come up with my breed type? I have no idea. Maybe the BGV part is because
I'm fuzzy? Really? Maybe they should have just said "mixed breed" and been
done with it. I'm OK with that. I'm OK with anything, actually, because I'm a very agreeable girl! And
everyone knows that we "mixed breeds" are the sweetest, most loving and intelligent of dogs.
Only thing is I don't like little dogs too well. (Rats, I call them.) So If I get to be your one and
only, or if you have a larger dog who I could meet and bond with, I'm your gal! Please come and meet
me!
I'm the Cisco kid, alright, but I don't drink whiskey. I drink water. And food, lots of food,
since I was severely malnourished when I came here. One thing you may not notice on my picture
is that I have an Issue with my left front leg. Actually it's not much of an issue, it's just not
much of a leg. It is congenitally malformed but it doesn't bother me a bit. You might say I'm
left front leg challenged. But I don't think of myself as a special needs dog. I can do anything
a 4 legged dog can do, just watch me! I'm especially good at being a lover of all things human.
Does that include you? I don't care how many legs you have either.
If I look a little embarrassed in my photo it's because I'm-- well-- naked! I used to have a
full cocker coat but it was all matted and nasty so they had to shave it off. It will grow
back, though, and you'll see what a handsome dude I am! I'm a mature guy without all that
puppy craziness but I still love to play and cuddle and just hang out with my family. I'm not
sure how I ended up here, but I know I can't wait to have my own home again. Please come and
meet me!
They say I'm a chihuahua blend but other than my size, I don't look very chihuahua-ish.
I do hop around a lot, so I guess that's why they called me Cricket! I'm a sweet little guy who
was starving when I was found and I still need to gain some weight. Please don't reach for me
suddenly when you meet me because I was likely abused and am a little hand shy. Other than that,
though, I'm super friendly and loving, and I like dogs and cats and I'm little enough to fit in
your pocket! But I'd rather have my own place of honor in your bedroom. Or the kitchen, since
I'm still really skinny and HUNGRY! But I'm small--I won't eat that much!
If I look a little worried in my picture it's because I'm confused by these new surroundings
and noises. I'm used to being with a family, not surrounded by all these dogs. I'm a little
shy when I first meet new people but I warm up very quickly when someone is nice to me. After
that, I just adore you, and I want to be with you forever! Please come and take me home!
Please?
I may not look much like a Lhasa right now with this silly haircut but when I came in I was so
matted and dirty that the hair had to come off. It will all grow back soon and then you'll be
able to appreciate my Lhasa-ness. I'm a mature, confident little guy who would be a perfect
companion for any family, big or small! What better way to start the new year than with a new
BFF in your home, right?
I'm a pretty little girl, a blend of some of the best dogs around! And I'm full of kisses and
love and just the right size to snuggle on the couch with you. I'm still young, so I have lots
of energy to play with you and go for walks or runs, but I'm over all that puppy craziness. So
come and meet me-- I could be your best dog ever!
I may look like a little puppy but I'm 1 whole year old and I'm not getting any bigger! I'm a
terrier though, so even though I may be small I have a big personality and a big heart. And
I'm an active little guy so even though I may look like you could carry me around in your
purse I want to be out playing with the big boys. One advantage of being small is that I'll
fit in anyone's house! How about yours?
Don't you think that "Lincoln" is an elegant sounding name? I guess when they saw
my snowy white coat and long spaniel ears they figured I must be a quiet elegant gentleman.
Don't be fooled though-- I'm a young dude who likes nothing better than playing with the guys
or having a rough and tumble game of fetch. I'm only a year and a half old so I have tons of
energy and I love to party! Pass the biscuits, please!
If you're looking for a friendly, happy little guy to be your constant companion, here I am! I
like people and dogs, and I love to play or even sit quietly beside you while you watch TV! How
agreeable can you get? And I'm small, so I'll barely even make a dent in the couch. You know
you want me! Why else would you be reading this?
MAYA
My Helping Hero
Hope you find the perfect home and family!
You deserve it.
You probably won't be able to tell from my picture since I photograph small, ; ) ,
but I'm a big girl. I am, however, a lap dog. It is purely size discrimination to
think that only little dogs can be lap dogs and I intend to prove all those stereotypes
wrong. I'm not a puppy, so I'm not super crazy like they are, but I am energetic and
enthusiastic and loving. Very loving. How big is your lap?
Dog Friendly, No Cats, Adult Only Home, High Energy
OK, I admit that I'm a little rotund, but it's not my fault! I'm sitting in a kennel all day
and I don't get enough exercise! If someone were to adopt me, hint hint, and take me for walks
everyday and I could run around more, I'm sure I'd shape right up! I'm a friendly guy who just
needs a buddy to share my life with. No couch potatoes, though. I'm an active guy so I need a
family who can keep up with me! Ready, set, let's go!
They're calling me a pug-terrier, but I think I may have some chihuahua in me too-- I'm a
pretty small guy! But whatever my parentage, what's important to know now is that I'm a happy,
active fella who would LOVE to come home with you. It might be a good idea to get some
training for me since I look like I have some Jack Russell in me, and we tend to think we're
"large and in charge" despite our size! But I'm here waiting for you!
They're calling me a lab blend because I'm black, but I'm really true "mixed breed"
which means that they took the cutest and best parts of every dog they could find, and turned
it into ME! I'm pretty young still so it's hard to predict who I'm going to look like when I
grow up but I know it's going to be someone awesome. Just think of how much fun we can have
when people ask you what kind of dog I am, and you tell them something different each time.
Hilarious! Hurry in so you can be the proud owners of a one-of-a-kind puppy!
Some dogs have that stick out in all directions but mine lie neatly next to my beautiful face
where they belong. Although I am an unusually pretty girl I'm not at all stuck-up or full of
myself. In fact, if you adopt me I promise that it will be all about you! And me, together of
course. We can have so much fun and we'll make a absolutely gorgeous pair. Right?
SINATRA (ADOPTED)
SINATRA (ADOPTED)
DOB:
12/28/2009
BREED:
Male, Dachshund blend
WEIGHT:
13 lbs.
Despite my name, I can't really sing. And they're calling me a dachshund blend but look at my
face-- Don't you think I'm really a shiba inu? Look it up. I'm sure your friends will be much
more impressed to hear you have a shiba inu than a dachy. But I guess what really matters is
that YOU'RE impressed with a great, friendly little guy I am! Let's play!
OK, I know why they named me Sumo, and it's Not Funny! I just so happens that I come from
families that have a tendency to gain weight on both sides-- beagles and pugs. Anyway I'm not
fat I'm just big boned. Big, squishy bones. Well maybe I'm a little overweight. But I love to
go for walks and play, and I bet if you adopt me and we walk a lot I could drop a few pounds
without having to-- horrors!-- diet! Please?
Tessa Terrific they call me. That's because I'm one terrific little girl! I'm super energetic, so
I need an active home where I can get exercise and I'm smart so I'll need training to keep my mind
busy too. I like other dogs, so if you have a friend for me to play with that's great! I can't
wait to meet you and get started on this great new life together! Please come soon.
Twiggy! That name sounds like I'm abnormally skinny or something! I mean, I'm naturally slender
and small, but it's not like I don't eat. I wouldn't want anyone to think that I have some sort
of a problem or something. I'm a sweet gentle girl who loves to play and be held. I like other
dogs, but not too rough, please! Come and meet me, and find out how special I am for yourself.
Only Dog in Home, No Cats, Children (16 years and up), High Energy, Experienced Owner,
Must Know Breed
Yabba dabba doo? No that's not me. I'm not a bear (and I never wear hats!) I'm an American bulldog,
which is a pretty rare breed! We have longer legs and are much more agile than our rolly-polly
English cousins. We were bred as working dogs, but to be honest, the only work I want to do now
involves sitting politely while you fix my dinner, after our long walk on the beach or somewhere.
Then I'll rest my gorgeous Big Head on your lap and gaze lovingly at you until it's time to play
or eat again. Now that's the life that a guy like me deserves!
They're billing me as a pomeranian, but I'm kind of the Larry Bird of pomeranians-- A little
over tall! So I guess there was a non-pom in my family tree. No matter though, I'm still a
super cute little guy who is very active and eager to find a new family to call my own! I can
get a little over excited at times, so I'd do well with an owner who would get me some training
and take the time to work with me to overcome my anxieties. It will be lots of fun, though,
because we can do it together, and that’s what I really want!
